RECS 2011 Arrives in the SECARB Region
June 5th - 30 graduate students and early career professionals flew to Birmingham, AL - home to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Southeast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership - from all over the U.S. and Canada to attend RECS 2011, the premier U.S. intensive 10-day program on all aspects of CCS. RECS 2011 is a partnership between EnTech Strategies, SECARB-Ed and Southern Company and is sponsored by the U.S. DOE and National Energy Technology Laboratory. It is the first time RECS is being hosted in the southeast, which offers unique access to SECARB Phase III field sites where large volume CO2 storage projects are underway.

Participants and faculty were greeted at the University of Alabama, Birmingham gazebo and treated with a spread of real southern BBQ provided by Jim ‘n Nick’s. The evening was filled with getting to know you conversations in a relaxed and comfortable setting with anticipation for the program to come.
