RECS Day 3, cont. - RECS Tests Caprock Integrity at UAB Lab

June 8th - A caprock is a rock of very low permeability that acts as an upper seal to prevent fluid flow out of the reservoir. Dr. Peter Walsh (UAB) provided a demonstration (above) of the pressure-pulse decay method for measurement of the permeability and minimum capillary displacement pressure for a caprock. The result was used to estimate (below) the maximum height of CO2 column for which the caprock would serve as a barrier to upward migration of CO2.
